Lorena Gomez
Lorena Elizabeth Gomez is a Houston-based Flamenco artist with a foundation in classical dance. Born and raised in Houston, she began her journey with classical ballet under University of Houston instructor Shirley Gao Lee. Her artistic path shifted in 2001 upon joining the Rogelio Rodriguez Dance Academy, where she discovered her lifelong passion for Flamenco. Under the mentorship of influential figures Rogelio Rodriguez and Magdalena Ruiz, Lorena spent years honing the intricate footwork and emotional depth of the genre. Since debuting in live tablaos in 2015, she has become a frequent collaborator with various artists across the city and has performed on many stages and theaters across Texas. Currently performing as a member of Arte Flamenco, she continues to refine her craft, training with the Lucia & Valdemar Escuela Flamenca.
Bianca Torres
Bianca Antonia Torres, has made a life long commitment to promiting the art of flamenco. Born and raised in Texas, Bianca has dance flamenco for most of her life. She began her studies in Flamenco under Lucia Rodriguez Sanchez in 1992. In 1999 she appeared in Lucia y Valdemar’s Gitanerias film “Grafico. In 2000 she formed her first cuadro group called “Pasion Gitana”. In 2004 she formed her cuadro “Flamenco Andaluz’.
With Flamenco Andaluz she performed at Jones Hall, Baylor University, Sam Houston State Universicty, Texas A&M, University of Houston, Texas Attorney General. As well as events for Univision, Cafe Bustelos and numerous other events across the state of Texas. She has studied under some influential artist of flamenco such as Antonio Granero, Omayra Amaya, Timo Lozano, Maria Serrano, Concha Jareno, Inmaculada Ortega, Sara Martin and numerious other artist.
